First part if my study project in environmental design. I did it for collaboration with game graphics students, as the concept art for the game level.
The initial idea was about the visual controversy between a medieval slavic world and hi-tech space cruiser remnants. Imagine, you are simple Slavic somebody, you praise the gods(all 12 of them), and one day you witness the huge spaceship emerges from the clouds and collides with the ground few miles away from your village. How could you respond?
I was thinking how can medieval pagan folk interpret such an event. They have mythological conscious, so I decided that they can see this as a demon intervention to their habitat. So, from there my idea about "Fiends valley" started. It's a creepy place because locals see it creepy. Enormous cruiser shadowing the area, and the last bastion of God-fearing folk is the Idol tree that stands as a sentinel against imps and fiends that lurking in the mists.
